Sequel to Provoked. This felt like a bridge between where the MC's started and where the author wants them to end up. The setting was excellent and the characters lives were perfectly positioned into real life events in 19th century Scotland. I liked the story but I think I was expecting something new. Instead we revisit David's friends, Euan and Elizabeth Chambers and are caught up in their various dramas. Murdo too was more of a toothless tiger in this and less of the carnal rake that I fell in love with in book 1. That's not to say I didn't enjoy this book. I'm just on the fence at the moment because it wasn't quite what I was anticipating. I have a feeling I'll appreciate this more when I reread it next year.
